Firstly let me say that it is an honour and privilege to be 1st XI and Club Captain at Oxton in its 140th anniversary year. I, like you, cannot wait for the cricket to start and there is much to be pleased with as we approach the start of the season.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is David Varey. Most of you will be aware that John Fennah has stepped down as Chairman of the Cricket Section and I have therefore moved up into this role from the position of Deputy Chairman. I would like to thank John on behalf of the Club for all his efforts over the winter, which have been considerable, and to wish him all the best.

ENTRIES for the 2015 Cheshire Cup have risen to 52 clubs – six up on last season - including 32 from the Vivio Cheshire County League.
Organiser Barrie Burns says it has been decided not to rule out clubs who conceded games in 2014, although this penalty may be reintroduced in future.
This will be the 3rd year Oxton have hosted the world famous Lashings All Stars. The event is going from strength to strength and is once again sponsored by UBM.
We are hoping to have more spectators than ever this June so please take a look at the details below.
Corporate Packages: £650 for table of 10
£750 for table of 11 (including one of the Lashings stars)
Corporate package includes 3-course lunch, entertainment and auction in the marquee prior to the match.
In the last couple of seasons, since the removal of the unsightly plastic/concrete seating, members may have noticed a lack of seating around the ground, particularly in front of the sandstone wall adjacent to the front pitch.
The Club Committee has now set out to raise enough money to purchase 10 new benches before the start of the season in April. We are looking for £100 per bench and so far we have money pledged for 4 benches.
Oxton Cricket & Sports Club extends a warm invitation to join them at their inaugural Golf Day at Hurlston Hall, Ormskirk on Friday 17th April 2015.
All are invited to enter in what will be a fabulous competition. The tee off will be preceded by breakfast and then following the 18-hole round, players will enjoy lunch. There will also be a raffle with some excellent prizes.
The cost for the day will be £50 per head. Interested parties should contact Club Captain Andrew Gibson (firstname.lastname@example.org/07748 708212).
