Update from 1st XI Captain Graham Cashin (20/03/2012):

Popular Sri Lankan all rounder, Gayan Fernando, returns to Oxton for the coming season. Gayan, who is currently playing Melbourne grade cricket is Australia is due to arrive on 18th April. He was scheduled to arrive a week earlier, and in time for a pre season friendly, however with his club's progress to Final's day his season has been extended down under. Gayan has been re-registered with the League and his Visa application is underway. Ian Gauntlett has again kindly offered to host Gayan for the 1st half of the season, with Kevin Southern offering to host him for the 2nd.

Former New Brighton CC opening batsman and Oxton player Chris Davies makes an eagerly awaited return to the Townfield Lane club. The classy left hander will return to the top of the order and will form an opening partnership with Steve McGenity. CD, who couldn't initally be reached for comment later released a statement saying "I just can't wait for the season to start and return to a club that has extremely high aspirations for 2012. I had 5 really enjoyable seasons and really look forward to the 6th"

The club are delighted to announce that Worcestershire CCC all rounder Gareth Andrew has signed for Oxton Cricket Club for the forthcoming season. Gareth is a hard hitting left handed batsman and right arm fast medium bowler who has also played for England U17 and U19. The former Somerset player is currently recovering from injury and is keen to play Premier League club cricket as part of his rehabilitation. Gareth has been fully registered with the Cheshire County League and is cleared to play for the opening fixture against Toft CC. He is a very exciting cricketer who finished runner up to former England star Marcus Trescothick in the 2011 PCA most valuable player awards scoring over 1,000 runs and taking 83 wickets.
